For 20 years, this
region of the Pyrenees has been a favourite of walkers and cyclists. Today on
the menu is a mixture of Mediterranean ambience, high quality Mountain Bike trails
and beautiful
landscapes.
We start our tour
in the beautiful French coastal village of Collioure that has been home to
many famous artists over the years. Our destination is the Catalan coastal
village of Cadaques which is nestled by the sea surrounded by the imposing
mountains of the Pyrenees.
Between the
foothills of the Pyrenees and the famous Costa Brava on the Catalan coast you'll ride along
paths and tracks that are perfect for mountain biking. A
cocktail of rolling tracks, descents and technical trails ensure that each
rider will enjoy one of the great mountain bike rides of Europe.

Depart from the beach at Collioure to stretch our legs. We ride off from the
middle of the vineyards on roads and tracks of the back country. We rise in
elevation to a Col before reaching a magnificent 14th century signal tower
from where we have a
panoramic
view over the sea.

We start off with an ascent of a Col before a long descent. We then attack the second difficult section of this
stage; a climb on a track bordered with cork trees to arrive on
a ridge, the highest point of
the stage.
The final
descent is over 12 km along a rolling,
shaded
trail, at times technical.

Hotel by the sea |
We start off on Spanish trails surrounded by green oaks and hamlets.
We ride along paths bordered with dry stone walls before attacking a climb in a landscape worthy of the High Atlas of Morocco!
We then descend to 500m elevation: pure pleasure
before
arriving at the beach for a well-deserved dip in the sea.

Another landscape reminiscent of
Morocco with its characteristic vegetation and oases.
We climb
a Col, passing near a spectacular monastery that dominates the
whole coast. We spot the sea before diving swiftly down a
500m
descent.

We ride along with lovely views of the valleys with the sea behind us.
We arrive at a ridge via a technical trail. This is followed by a thrilling descent to the beach. We
sense the approach of Cadaquès by the inlets, sea pines and
exceptional
landscapes.

Departure to
Girona city |
We leave along a track to explore the natural reserve of Cap de Creus. We
climb high again for a better view of the Pyrenees that extend to the sea.
While in Cadaques why not visit the house of the famous artist Salvador Dali before
putting away the bikes...
