Happy New Year!

Well 2008 is well and truly underway and we are busily preparing ourselves for another great year of cyclists and walkers exploring the beauty of Catalonia.

For 2008 we have worked throughout the winter to bring you some new tours that will definitely take your riding to the next level. We have added a couple of road riding tours, a mountain bike tour as well as a new cycle touring tour. Read on for more details.....

DSO-sports program

We have listed three new tours that see Creative Catalonia collaborating with DSO-sports. The tours are:

Each tour is based at either the three star Cap Roig Hotel or the three star Eden Roc Hotel. The tours run from Sunday to Saturday and include a host of extras. The DSO-sports team are a very professional outfit who are now into their fifth successful season on the Costa Brava. Additionally, they offer tours in France, Italy, Thailand and Mali.

More great press....

November saw two journalists visiting Girona from the Sunday Times newspaper. They were suitably impressed with the area and wrote a fantastic article for the paper that came out in a two-page spread.

This now adds to a growing  collection of articles written about the joys of cycling in the Girona region, so keep spreading the word for those who haven't had a taste of cycling heaven!!

'Mountains and Sea' road riding tour with Girona Cycling

We have now launched our brand new 'Mountains and Sea' road riding tour'. This tour is aimed at the experienced cyclist who is looking to push their riding up to the next level.

Gareth Speechley from Girona Cycling will be your guide for the week of road riding that combines the incredible scenery of the Catalan Pyrenees with the beautiful coastal rides that we have on our doorstep.

The tour is based in two locations - a few days based on the coast to ride the extensive coastal routes and a few days based in the foothills of the Pyrenees to take you out onto some of the more challenging rides that can be ridden in Catalonia.

New Hotels.

For 2008 and we are happy to bring you even more great accommodation options. We have selected the following hotels for the special qualities they offer guests, especially after a day on the bike or on foot.

The 4 star Hotel Arcs in the charming medieval village of Monells is a beautifully restored building that dates back to the 14th century. Once inside the modern touches certainly give this hotel a truly luxurious feeling.

The luxury Castle Hotel Castell d'Emporda is a stunning hotel sitting proudly on a hill overlooking the plains of the Baix Emporda. Its location is fantastic for those who want to explore the endless cycle touring routes of this area. The history of the hotel dates back to one of Christopher Columbus's fleet captains.

The Hotel S'Agaro on the edge of the bay of Sant Pol is a high quality 4 star hotel that is perfectly located to just stroll out of the hotel and onto the beach. There are plenty of great cycling and walking options to choose from right from the doorstep as well as just opting to enjoy the beautiful gardens by the pool.

You Tube Videos

We have uploaded some of our videos onto the You Tube website. We've currently got 5 videos on the website but will start to add more and more over the upcoming months.

If you recorded any videos of your cycling with Creative Catalonia, send it through to us and we'll more than happily upload them for you.

The road-riding teams are already here starting their pre-season training programmes. It's a great sight to see a group of roadies whizzing along in silence all in the team colours with the support vehicle in tow.

Also, as Spring approaches the mountain biking just gets better and better as the weather starts to warm up and the days are just that little bit longer every day. The first of the buds are starting to appear on the trees and there is Almond blossom and Mimosa in full bloom pretty much everywhere at the moment.

Well we can't wait to see you out here again or hosting friends of yours that you've recommended us to. We look forward to seeing plenty of smiling faces through the 2008 season - hopefully yours will be one of them!

Here's a nice little picture of Lucy, Oliver and Max out trekking with snow shoes, enjoying some fresh snow in the French Pyrenees in early January - it was great to have some snow while we were up there!
