The Baix Emporda region of Catalonia,
Spain has an extensive network of rural walks that are well signposted and
can range from a leisurely afternoon or morning stroll, through to a day or
two of walking from point to point.
| |
 |
|
The network follows a standard signal
system that indicates which walk you are following.
-
The Gran Routes are walks that can
be followed across the entire Iberian Peninsula and are marked by the
Red and White indicators.
-
The Shorter Routes are walks from
village to village which are marked by the Yellow and White
indicators.
-
The Shortest Routes are local
village walks which are marked by the Green and White indicators.
Each walk has several signposts at
crossroads or points of interest that will help you on your way by
informing you how far you have walked and how far your destination is.
The scenery encountered on the rural
walks is a mixture of extensive Cork and Holm oaks in the Gavarres
protected area combined with the Pine forests of the Ardenya protected
area. |
